Original NGS Garden

This area was the first to be opened for the NGS. This section of the garden has shrubby shelterbelts and native hedging. As a consequence it feels enclosed and protected. There are several distinct areas linked by meandering paths.

The cottage borders combine low maintenance perennials and shrubs.

The grass area is jungly and exuberant. Two central grass beds are surrounded by planting that mainly comprises bamboos. This area demonstrates the diversity of the grass family of plants.

The fern area displays our collection of ferns and allows their differences to be appreciated by seeing them all growing in close proximity.
